Videoaves Project

Videoaves is Alex García‘s personal website, in his aim of sharing the bird videos he films during his trips and research projects. The objective of this non-profit audiovisual guide is just to look for the maximum utility of this material and to contribute to bird knowledge and conservation.

It was inaugurated in 2010 after some years of thinking on the project and several months of work on it’s design, which was ordered to Get a Feeling Laboratory. The purpose was to create an intuitive and easy-manageable bird guide in which users could look for their species of interest by direct or taxonomical searching. We also considered a recommended videos page very useful, as well as a last videos uploaded one. The videos can be filtered by the species origin (biogeographic region, country, area and locality) in the taxonomical search and the all videos or all species pages.

When inside a species page, the available videos are shown below the distribution map and filming details, classified by sex, age or behavior, allowing the user to play the ones of his interest. Below the video player, the title and description (when available) of the clip is shown, as well as a quick access to the family page which the species belongs to.

As Videoaves is a personal collection, although it can content other authors’ material punctually, it is not an open site for video uploading. For that purpose, we strongly recommend the Internet Bird Collection, with which we also contribute. If you want to share your bird videos, photos or sound recordings we encourage you to join this increasing worldwide project.

Videoaves material is available for educational or scientific, non-profit use, always with our previous written permission. It can also be purchased in full HD quality for audiovisual publications, such as DVDs for National Parks, birding lodges or birdwatching agencies. We will also be delighted to receive any opinions and suggestions from Videoaves users. We wish you enjoy it!
